The minimum score required in Chopper Command by Activision to earn an Activision patch was: 10,000 points. The best advice in Chopper Command by Activision is to read the manual so that you know all of the nuances of the game. Make sure both difficulty switches are set to B. Chopper Command was designed by Bob Whitehead.
This game is something of a Defender type clone — side scrolling shooter. You must protect the convoy of trucks at the bottom of the screen. You get bonus points for each truck remaining at the end of each wave. Get familiar with using the radar at the bottom of the screen. This tells you exactly where the enemies are located. Get used to viewing the radar and the regular screen at the same time.
The truck convoy moves from right to left on your screen. I prefer to always follow the convoy and attack the enemies from behind while I move left. Once you have cleared the first group of 3 enemies, the rest of the wave should be very easy. Just move slightly into range, so the enemies will barely appear on the screen. Line up your shots to destroy the enemy as soon as it appears on the edge of the screen. Repeat this process for the second and third enemy in each group then move on to the next group of three ahead in the convoy to the left until all have been destroyed.
You earn an extra chopper for every 10,000 points and can have a maximum of 6 in reserve. There are 10 levels of difficulty that increase with each wave of enemies. You are at the maximum level of difficulty and max bonus point scoring in the 10th enemy wave. Good luck!
